The mornings are getting brighter and the days are getting longer, which can only mean
one thing: spring is finally on its way! So, as you dust away the cobwebs and get ready
for brighter days ahead, we’re sharing our top three tips to optimise your skincare
routine for spring.
Tip #1 - Gently exfoliate to bring back radiance
The winter months can be tough on the skin. Cold conditions and drying central heating
can leave it duller and drier than usual, resulting in uneven texture and lacklustre skin.
To bring back your glow, start incorporating a weekly exfoliating treatment into your
routine, such as the Rice Pure The Real Scrub Pack. Helping to slough away old skin
cells and smooth texture, this innovative self-heating mask will gently resurface the skin,
revealing a fresh, radiant complexion.
Top tip - Apply to clean, dry skin, massaging for a few minutes to take advantage of the
physical exfoliation from the rice bran extract and bentonite clay, before leaving it to sit
for a further 10-15mins as a nourishing mask.
Tip #2 - Use an antioxidant serum in your AM routine
Spending more time outside enjoying the (hopefully) brighter weather, means greater
exposure to skin-damaging UV rays and pollution. The best defence? Layering an
antioxidant serum, like the BakuVita Revitalizing Ampoule, under your sunscreen.
Antioxidants help protect the skin from free radicals: molecules naturally created in our
bodies and generated in excess by exposure to UV radiation, pollution, and other
environmental stressors such as cigarette smoke. When free radicals accumulate, they
damage our cells and accelerate signs of ageing. To prevent this, antioxidants step in,
neutralising the free radicals and protecting your skin cells from damage – how kind!
Undoubtedly, one of the most well-known antioxidants used in skincare is vitamin C,
which also helps support collagen production and brightens the skin. You’ll find it in the
Bakuvita serum alongside vitamin E and bakuchiol, fellow antioxidants which all work
together to help shield, smooth and support skin renewal.
Tip #3 - Make sure you’re wearing enough sunscreen
You’ve bought your sunscreen and you’re applying it daily. Job done right? Well, not
quite. Whilst you may be consistent with your sunscreen, there is one thing that most
people get wrong: are you actually wearing enough? Wearing less than the required
amount means you won’t be getting the protection indicated on the pack. To help
ensure you are, aim for two fingers-lengths worth for the face, and an additional finger-
length for the neck and decolletage.
Remember, sunscreen works by creating a film on the skin, but throughout the day, as
you move, touch your face, produce oil and sweat, this film can be disrupted. This is
why we recommend reapplying every 2 hours, especially if you are spending the day
outside or sitting by a window. To make reapplication a breeze, keep a sunscreen stick
like the Sun Project Silky Calming Sun Stick in your bag, so you’re never caught out.
